Energy efficient cooling solution for global contact lens manufacturer
The Challenge
A global contact lens manufacturer required a full turnkey process cooling solution to enable them to precisely control the temperature of the manufacturing process. ICS Cool Energy consulted and delivered this with a bespoke maintenance and back-up plan to keep their process running efficiently.
The Solution
As part of an ongoing programme of temperature control upgrades, the latest completed project is a major investment in the installation of a robust back-up temperature control system.
The latest bespoke system includes energy-efficient 800kW turbo chillers and cost effective adiabatic evaporative coolers that all but remove the risk of legionella as well as saving precious water – mains cold water is only used at plant when the ambient air temperature is higher than 15°C.
A sophisticated sequencer has also been added so the units ‘talk’ to each other, as well as the introduction of ICS Cool Energy’s Remote-X that allows real time remote monitoring and alerts at each site.

The Result
ICS Cool Energy delivers an ongoing programme of production support solutions for the plastics manufacturer, with regular benchmarking to stringent standards.
In addition to the provision of equipment and system design, ICS Cool Energy‘s comprehensive suite of services has also been delivering business solutions for the contact lens manufacturer over nearly a decade. Equipment is rented temporarily as a backup during essential repair and maintenance works as well as providing an emergency fast response service, often within a few hours. And ICS Cool Energy’s service division provides and documents routine checks and ‘MOT’ maintenance of the equipment to ensure it is operating at maximum efficiency.
