To provide accurate and reliable process temperatures for equipment that is designed to operate at 200°C to 300°C degrees creates a real challenge, not only because of the extremely high operating temperature range required, but also because each composite and product being manufactured on the machine requires a precise temperature. The company had been experiencing reliability problems with their temperature control units (TCUs) from another supplier, which was creating costly problems to resolve with both their UK and international customers, which in return was damaging their reputation.
In order to provide a solution ICS Cool Energy had to first get to the bottom of the problem and understand how and why the high operating temperatures were causing problems to equipment that is designed to operate at high temperatures. Over the course of several meetings with the team, our expert engineers determined that the current equipment just wasn’t able to offer the precise and reliable temperatures the equipment required to operate at and the current equipment was only controlling the temperature of part of the rollers and not the whole rollers as required.
The solution involved providing the manufacturer with our ultra-reliable packaged i-Temp range of TCUs (36kW heating capacity) linked to additional i-Chillers (37kW cooling capacity) to provide enhanced temperature control at extreme temperatures. The TCUs are equipped with advanced C8 controllers that integrated with the rollers temperature probes to provide precise temperatures across the rollers. Our equipment would start lowering or increasing temperate within a 1°C variation of the exact temperate required to provide a more consistent temperature.
Our consultative approach has allowed the manufacturer to provide their UK and international customers with machines that are now much more reliable when operated at extreme temperatures. This has resulted in significantly less complaints about product consistency, which in return has lowered their operational and support costs and helped improve their international reputation.
Since first working with the client, the customer has increased the different types of products manufactured and have come to rely on ICS Cool Energy to calculate each product’s unique process heating and cooling requirements and then provide a reliable temperature control solution to meet them.
