The Challenge
The main air conditioning system in a busy fashion store at a major shopping centre destination failed during a heatwave – potentially forcing the store to close over a busy holiday weekend. ICS Cool Energy had a call for help at 4pm and by 9am the next morning, spot coolers had cooled the shop ready for opening at 9am.
The Solution
Weekend temperatures were forecast to be higher than in Ibiza when the fashion store’s air conditioning failed on a Friday afternoon. But ICS Cool Energy was on site within hours to create a solution that would allow the shop to remain open while the main system was repaired.
The store area needed 100kW of cooling but no space in which a temporary chiller could be sited. Individual portable air conditioners from ICS Cool Energy’s industry leading range of hire solutions provided the solution.
The units are on castors for easy placement on site and they also have a relatively small footprint so they take up the minimal space in store. Plus they are simple to operate, needing no permanent installation and just a 13a socket to deliver low noise, high power cooling within minutes.

The Result
The order was placed at 4pm on a Friday and, as specified, the units were delivered at 8am on Saturday, the minute the shopping centre opened its main access doors. The units were simply wheeled into place and were all operating and cooling by the time the store opened at 9am, with no additional safety precautions needed.
Exhaust ducts remove the heat into the ceiling void where fans extract the heat. The whole solution was in place for four weeks while the main system was repaired.
