A slick 24/7 operation means it’s vital for temperature control systems to function round the clock in nearly 400 stores across the UK from Land’s End to John O’Groats.

The building operations in the stores are handled exclusively by a facilities management partner for whom the brief is to ensure the business operates to its maximum capacity at all times with no downtime or unplanned store closures. At one supermarket in the North East, there was a total system breakdown and the failure of heating throughout the store just before a very busy weekend. Fortunately it was not necessary to keep the doors shut for trade, but an uncomfortable working and shopping environment was unavoidable.
