Never use less than\u00a025% Glycol, this will ensure that an adequate quantity\u00a0of inhibitors are present. Never over-mix \u2013 use only the\u00a0glycol concentration necessary to protect the equipment.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Don&#8217;t mix glycols<\/strong><br \/>\nDo NOT mix different types of glycol or\u00a0different brands. Incompatibilities can lead\u00a0to formula separation which clogs filters,\u00a0strainers and pump suctions as well as\u00a0reducing its transfer properties.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Check your local environmental rules<\/strong><br \/>\nCheck local regulations for rules surrounding\u00a0glycols and antifreeze solutions. Ground\u00a0structure, water table, drainage and disposal\u00a0may be things to consider.<\/li>\n<li><strong>How will glycol anti-freeze affect my system?<\/strong><br \/>\nA glycol solution is denser than water and does\u00a0not offer the same level of thermal transfer as\u00a0water. It will therefore produce a slightly reduced\u00a0cooling capacity, increase pumping power\u00a0consumption and increase the fluid temperature\u00a0difference.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Flowcool IG<\/strong><br \/>\nThis is ethylene-based glycol and it is the\u00a0standard process\/industrial antifreeze additive.\u00a0FlowCool IG can be used in any application\u00a0where low toxicity is not a requirement.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Flowcool-Plus &amp; Flowcool FS<\/strong><br \/>\nThese are propylene-based glycols; FlowCool\u00a0FS has been tested by the National Sanitary\u00a0Foundation. They are non-toxic and are the\u00a0antifreeze additives of choice for applications in\u00a0the food and beverage industry and where user\u00a0contact is a frequent occurrence.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Flowcool\u00a0Bio<\/strong><br \/>\nThis is a BIO-glycol which is derived from a\u00a0sustainable source and is non-toxic, nonflammable,\u00a0non-hazardous and biodegradable.\u00a0It is the ideal solution for sites and applications\u00a0where environmental concerns\u00a0are paramount.<\/li>\n<li><strong>What water to use<\/strong><br \/>\nMost systems use ordinary mains \u201ctap\u201d water.\u00a0However applying the appropriate inhibitors is of vital importance to prevent\u00a0chiller system damage. Using one of the \u201cPure\u201d\u00a0waters \u2013 distilled, demineralised, de-ionised or\u00a0RO Water \u2013 will remove all the unpredictability\u00a0associated with town mains water.
