An international food and drink supplier of canned fish called in temperature control specialists ICS Cool Energy as existing process air conditioning systems failed to cope in 35\u00b0C and temperatures soared at its plant in the Indian Ocean. It was making the working environment unbearable and having an adverse impact on product life and quality.<\/p>\n

As a temporary measure during the on-site assessment, ICS Cool Energy technicians reinstated a faulty chiller which involved some modifications to the system and a replacement compressor. The only spare compressor available was for a cold store operating at -20\u00b0C so the expansion valve was resized to match and a maximum operating pressure (MOP) style cap was selected as the compressor to ensure a maximum operating condition of -5\u00b0C. Following a number of quick modifications, the team\u00a0supplied the customer with 120kW of cooling as a temporary fast fix while a longer term solution was processed.<\/p>\n
Since the emergency visit, new equipment has been installed with enough power to combat the high ambient temperatures so the capacity of the system has been increased to provide 1,072kW of cooling, giving the factory and 800 staff comfortable air conditioning.<\/p>\n
