Production contingency planning – it’s all in the preparation

Keeping your production running efficiently is essential for remaining profitable and keeping your customers happy.

To safeguard your production process and prevent equipment from failing, preventative maintenance plans should be followed with a contingency plan in place, should the worst happen. Even the highest quality equipment can fail when not looked after correctly.

In 2015, a global contact lens manufacturer turned to us to produce a contingency plan as part of their planned maintenance contract – an extra precaution to ensure that production never stops and their profits and customer relationships are protected.

To ensure the contingency plan could be executed, we prepared their production lines to receive temporary hire equipment, so that the units could be installed quickly, without affecting production.

The contingency plan was recently put to the test when a chiller ran low on refrigerant. Our engineer was called to the site and managed to reinstate the chiller while one of our hire units was installed – all without interrupting production, which resulted in a very happy customer.

“I would like to pass on my thanks and gratitude for the level of service Alistair and Neil provided late on Friday to help get the production up and running. The commitment and helpfulness provided shows a level of support that ICS Cool Energy should be proud of.”
