New Milestone in Renewable Energy Expansion at Totton Facility
ICS Cool Energy, an international market leader specialising in complete temperature control solutions for manufacturing process and facilities applications, celebrates the latest energy-saving improvements with the completion of the solar panel installation at its facility in Totton.
The installation of 500 photovoltaic (PV) solar panels increases the site’s operational energy efficiency, marking a significant step forward in ICS Cool Energy’s journey to reducing its carbon footprint. With a system design capacity of 209 kW, the solar panel installation is set to annually generate over 197000 kilowatt-hours (kWh) of energy. The facility’s average annual energy consumption is expected to reach little over 69% of the generated power, with the rest put back to the grid. The move to solar power will generate annual CO2 emissions savings estimated at up to 92,900 kg.
ICS Cool Energy Totton facility is currently home to total of 135 in-house staff and remote sales and technicians. The site has recently undergone significant expansion and refurbishment leading by example in the transition to sustainable industrial practices.
“The installation of solar panels marks another important step in the broader strategy for infrastructure improvements and renewable energy expansion at ICS Cool Energy facilities,” said Keith Holroyd, Quality, Health, Safety and Environment (QHSE) Manager at ICS Cool Energy. “By integrating renewable energy into our operations, we not only address our environmental responsibilities but want to highlight our dedication to enhancing our operational efficiencies and thus better serve the customers.”
The Totton project is part of a broader initiative by ICS Cool Energy and its parent company, a global climate innovator Trane Technologies (NYSE:TT). To confront climate change, Trane Technologies is reimagining its supply chain and operations to have a restorative impact on the environment. The company’s path towards its 2030 Sustainability Commitments includes leading by example in achieving net-zero carbon emissions, zero waste-to-landfill, net positive water use in its own operations, and its Gigaton challenge to reduce customer emissions by 1 billion metric tonnes.
