A recent installation at a site in the West Country provided robust, high performance boilers to help start up a new, sustainable waste management plant using anaerobic digestion. ICS Cool Energy’s engineers designed the solution to provide the initial heat needed for the large 40m diameter slurry tanks where the bacteria – methanogens – come to life at 45°C-plus and start to consume the waste. Once started, the process produces methane which then powers the generator, turning waste into valuable renewable energy which is also returned to power the process.
