Packaged Product vs Engineered Skid

WHAT IS PACKAGED PRODUCT?

Packaged products are built and function for everyday applications – it does what it says on the tin. However, this means that they are engineered so that they can’t be changed for customisations process chillers and therefore, have limitations when it comes to individual customer requirements. Packaged products can be said to be ‘off the shelf’ products, allowing customers to get them from many suppliers unlike engineered skids. But what if a customer requires something more from a normal package envelope that can be applied outside normal conditions?

WHAT ARE ENGINEERED SKID PRODUCTS?

engineered skid

This is where engineered skid products have become very beneficial to companies that are possibly under arduous conditions. Engineered skid products are a traditional process system, contained within a frame and mounted on a skid. They are then engineered and designed with additional modifications to offer custom packages based on individual needs in order to further help a customer.

WHAT ARE THEIR ADVANTAGES?

The advantages that come with having a custom packaged skid are firstly, it is time saving due to the system being built to specific requirements therefore it reduces timings on the overall output of the production process.

Secondly, there is a high amount of quality control because it is manufactured by one company. This means that the system arrives fully built and ready for installation, with no need for extra contractors. In addition to this, there is an increased level of safety because there is a less amount of people needed to be onsite, decreasing the risk and exposure to potential safety incidents.

The third advantage available with skid products are that they are layout accountable. They are designed to make systems easily accessible, so if a replacement was needed the specific part would not be difficult to locate.

Lastly, one of the best benefits of using a skid is how easy and mobile they are. This is because they are designed specifically to be 100% mobile and simple to move around a facility.
