Food Storage – Keeping the Army Marching

Back to Case Studies

The Challenge

A frozen food storage unit at a military base failed – putting thousands of pounds-worth of vital supplies at risk of perishing.

The Solution

The ICS Cool Energy hire team responded fast to ensure that no food was wasted and the problem was fixed, the same day.

After taking the initial call at 12.00pm, our hire engineer visited the military base immediately to carry out a site survey and it was rapidly determined that a Cool Store 306 was the ideal solution.

These Cold Storage solutions provide on-site chilling as well as frozen food storage with a temperature range of -25°C to +15°C. They are constructed from one-piece GRP panels for easy disinfection and cleaning with a non- slip floor.

They come with a convenient access ramp so that goods can easily be moved into the Cold Store in bulk – saving time and keeping products cooler for longer.

The Result

By late afternoon that same day, the unit was positioned on site and commissioned by an ICS Cool Energy service engineer.

By 18.30 and just in time for dinner, the storage unit was fully operational and cold. It took the base’s staff just a few hours to ensure all the food was saved and protected. The ramp meant that the heavy food packages were able to be transported on pallets, avoiding the need for lifting individual boxes one by one into the store.

With our 24/7 operation and technical back-up, we were able to provide a fast and reactive service while supporting our customer to ensure the Cold Store remained cooling product at the right temperature throughout the duration of their hire agreement.
