More than 400 manufacturing industry professionals gathered for the annual PPMA Group Industry Awards on the 26th September at the National Motorcyle Museum in Birmingham to recognise and celebrate great achievements in the last year.
The annual PPMA Group Industry Awards recognise nine categories of achievement, showcasing a range of talent and innovation in British manufacturing.
2017 saw a record number of entries and a refined judging process. The judging panel comprised of 10 industry experts from companies including Coca-Cola, Allied Bakeries, University of Lincoln and Cranfield University.
Leading temperature control specialist, ICS Cool Energy received the Highly Commended accolade in the Environmental Initiative of the Year category for its work with LINPAC Packaging.
Facing stiff competition across the board, the manufacturer was recognised for its collaboration with LINPAC Packaging – one of the largest global manufacturers of packaging for the food industry. The project, centred on an extensive upgrade of the temperature control equipment at one of LINPAC’s UK sites, recorded impressive savings that equated to a six-figure reduction on utility bills, in just one year.
Richard Metcalfe, UK Sales Director (Sales & Service) at ICS Cool Energy, comments: “The PPMA Industry Awards are well renowned as a benchmark for excellence, so to have our work with LINPAC Packaging recognised with the Highly Commended accolade at this year’s awards is something we are very proud of.
“Given the process-heavy nature of the packaging industry, temperature control equipment is often responsible for excessive energy consumption, well over and above what a manufacturer could – and should – be paying. It’s our aim to continue helping manufacturers across the industry realise the financial savings that LINPAC has achieved, and ultimately work in a much more efficient and effective way.”
