Dry Air Cooler Fails in Freezing Conditions
A major soft drinks manufacturer overlooked a pre-winter maintenance check, leaving their cooling system without the correct dose of glycol which had caused their dry air cooler to freeze and fan coils to split.
Their bottling line process cooling literally ‘ran out of juice’ during heavy snowfall and freezing conditions – putting production at a complete standstill.
The ICS Cool Energy hire team were called upon and arrived on site the same day, after they arranged for a snow plough to clear the way for replacement equipment to arrive by lorry.
The team worked through the night to install and commission the Chiller 1000 with all the ancillaries, to ensure full production was restored by the next day – enabling the bottling of orange juice to continue and meet their customers’ demands.
ICS Cool Energy has the largest range of ‘ready to go’ temperature control equipment available from stock and ready to fulfil urgent short term needs in the event of equipment failure – in this case a frozen and damaged system.
The nationwide teams are on call 24/7, even during Christmas shutdown and with quick thinking helped by nearly 30 years’ experience, and working overnight, full production was fully restored for this soft drinks manufacturer.
- Same day response with production restored
- Emergency new chiller 1000 and total cooling system
- Correct glycol mix to minimise freezing and future production downtime
- Contingency plan for the future
“We were on site, fast. Despite having to get a snow plough to clear the access for our lorry and worked overnight to get the result – rapidly restoring production.”
