The Challenge
A construction company building an 11-storey building was looking for a heating solution to temper the inside and keep the works going during winter. Maintaining the temperature inside the building around 10°C without the wait for a better, warmer weather was needed to allow the indoor wet works to dry faster, speed up the works and eventually hand over the building faster.
The key challenge – do it without using gas boilers.
The Solution
To find the right technology to keep the building warm and the construction going, the customer reached out to the ICS Cool Energy hire team.
The building in question was already closed with doors and windows installed as well as a central heating system installation in place. Following a site inspection, the ICS team designed a circuit system combining a 200kW air-cooled reversible heat pump and a buffer tank connected directly to the building’s heating system divider.
The Result
The plug-and-play heat pump solution from ICS Cool Energy hire fleet delivered 35°C hot water even at outside temperatures reaching -10°C, convincing the customer to apply this technology to their other constructions in the future.
The customer chose the heat pump solution, despite initially also contemplating the use of mobile diesel boilers. The heat pumps proved to be maintenance-free and much more energy- and cost efficient when compared to the diesel boilers and taking the fuel prices into consideration.
